I was looking to arrange something for January or early February for the event. if january - I'd love ot make it the 18th as that's my sister's birthday and we could do one HELL of a run to somerset (kidding...although....hmmm....) no, but yeah, my sisters birthday is the 18th of January, and I'd love to be able to put something on for her - she ride's to so she could join in aswell... If not, then February the 1st is my mum's b-day - and I'm sure she'd love any reason to get out on either her Triumph ROCKET!!! ZX10R or her kawasaki KH750. Both of these live in somerset....so I wonder if arranging a camping weekend for near those dates would be a good idea? I can get cheap camping fields - I'm from that way and my mate owns a farm....don't even START joking Also, entertainment would be easy too - what with my whole old band living down there So yeah - a whole weekend from 14-17th January....or from 29-31st January, or just a single smaller event?

OMG!!! i shoulda expected it really! jokin....
I'm used to "camping" being under a tarp strapped to the handle bars and sleeping under that and the bike - new years eve, john o groats 2004!
If you have the van (camper) you could always bring that, then the dogs could come to and the bike could come on trailer. Bear in mind it will be a van AND bike event! so you could bring the van down, park that as your "camping" and ride for the ride-outs and light parade. (Will be organised with town council and local police to have police escort and allow use of sirens and non-road legal lights)

carefull what you wish for. ha ha. i actually have police and ambulance siren ! ok i miss the blue lights but have amber. outside speaker as well. not sure if i have the trailer ready by then. can allways go in the back with tent and stuff. van idea is ok. also got a tent, and is big enough to even park a car in it. is just my other half is not so happy about the freezing stuff so i need to deside about heater. is there a chance off 220V electric supply on the camping side ? still would not take the dogs. if we going around on the bikes there, where would they stay? cant leave em in the van. not big enough for both over long time. 1 is a dalmation. i look for a way to deal with it. compare to yours my van has NO heater and Cooler in the back - yet. ha ha. first thing is a standing heater before i start modifying the back to stay in it.

John o Groats in 2004 ? we been on a Scotland rally in 2007. 4 people on 2 bikes. 7 days. all the way up and every place you can visit incl isle of sky. was great. although isle of sky roads are sh... for bikes. too many sheeps and potholes. we did around 3000 miles in a week. long days and loads overtaking but cool. no rain at all. would like going Scotland again for a roundtrip. but reduced luagage we used hotels and b+bs. as you can see my bike dont support space for a tent.

haha- my "tent" was rolled up and strapped to the front bars. Then unrolled into it's completed groundsheet state. Tied to the frame on the right hand side of the bike, pulled over the top and pegged out on the left. The bike was one side of the tent! The heater is dead at the moment. I just bought one of those sirens off of eBay for £12 all the sirens plus a microphone...plus something else.... hmmm... lol

think the best way is to start inside first. get some plywood and give it a fresh remake inside. i did loft insulation between the body and plywood. keeps it dry, comfi and warms quicker up inside. but you have to do the roof as well. to get easy access, just get a folding ramp, lightweight to storage under the van for slide out or if you cant like on mine about the towbar, storage it inside on one side. i modifyd the dash with the equipment i wanted inside, from cb, to proper carphone, switches for all seperate lights and equipment. i also carpeted the dash to get this ugly plastic look out the way. carpet on the floor in the back and cover the wheelarches. thats all a bit work but when its done it looks a lot better as just a delivery van. if you need help with it let me know.
